PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat ray shielding glass and a heat ray shielding double-glazed glass having a sunlight shielding property and excellent interior and exterior appearances and being manufactured at a low cost. SOLUTION: The heat ray shielding glass 10 is composed of a transparent glass plate 1, a first dielectric layer 2 coated on the transparent glass plate 1, a silver layer 3 having an infrared reflecting property laminated on the first dielectric layer 2, a first protective metal layer 4 absorbing the solar ray to a certain extent laminated on the silver layer 3, a second protective metal layer 5 as a barrier layer for oxygen plasma laminated on the first protective metal layer 4, an oxide layer 6 having a refractive index n of≥2.0 in a wavelength range of 400-500 nm which is generated when the second protective metal layer 5 is exposed to oxygen plasma, and a second dielectric layer 7 laminated on the oxide layer 6.
