The invention relates to a method for producing a flat sandwich material, in particular by a continuous process, wherein said method comprises a first step consisting in measuring the size of the lower cover of the sandwich material for placing said material on a flat support, a second step consisting in applying a plastic foam layer (4), which is not yet expanded (braked) and whose thickness corresponds to the height of a core layer in a predetermined fraction, on the lower cover during a limited time period, a third step consisting in placing the lower contact surface of the core layer (3) having a defined size on the plastic foam layer and in producing a pressure in a direction of the lower cover layer until the lower contact layer lies in a planar manner on the internal surface of the lower cover and wherein the beginning of the plastic foam expansion is selected in such a way that said expansion is initiated only when the lower contact surface of the core layer (3) is reliably disposed on the lower cover and the core layer (3) is maintained thereon without sliding. The fourth step of the method consists in applying a top cover (2) to the antiskid top contact surface of the core layer (3) which is selected after a time period required for ensuring the complete expansion of the plastic foam (4) in the totality of the cavities of the core layer (3) to the top contact surface in such a way that the top cover (2) is solidly connected to the top contact surface after a selected degassing time and resists to the residual degassing pressure. The use of the inventive sandwich material in the form of a container and the container made thereof are also disclosed.
