The process for making at least part of a shell (16) with a moulding surface, especially for roto-moulding, and a thermal regulator with a circulating liquid, consists of forming the shell by electro-deposition of a metal on a model of the moulding surface, and attaching at least one consumable core (18) of a conducting metal with a low melting point or a degradable material to the shell on the opposite side to the moulding surface. After coating the shell surface and core with metal (nickel) by electro-deposition, the core is eliminated by heating it to a temperature above the melting point or, in the case of a degradable material, by chemical attack, combustion or dissolving. The consumable core can be made, for example, with an undulating shape to form a series of channels for circulating a liquid, and the layers of metal applied by electro-deposition are each about 2 mm thick.
