The device has two variable grooved pulleys (4, 5) connected by an endless belt (10) and including conical flanges. Space between the flanges is variable and adjusted by actuators (11, 12) subjugated to an oil temperature. A controller (14) receives information regarding an engine speed and the temperature and drives an oil pump (3) based on a driving ratio which increases with the temperature and decreases according to the engine speed.
