Partial and full agonists of A1 adenosine receptors

Disclosed are compounds of formula (I) that are partial and full A1 adenosine receptor agonists, wherein: R1 is optionally substituted heterocyclyl; R2 is hydrogen; R3 is optionally substituted phenyl or optionally substituted heteroaryl; R4 and R5 are independently hydrogen or optionally substituted acyl; T and X are independently a covalent bond or alkylene of 1-3 carbon atoms optionally substituted by alkyl or cycloalkyl; Y is -O- or -NH-; and Z is alkylene of 1-3 carbon atoms, optionally substituted by alkyl or cycloalkyl. These compounds are suitable for treating various disease states, in particular tachycardia and atrial flutter, angina, myocardial infarction and hyperlipidemia.
