Process for lightening plasterboards

A method for producing plasterboards having a core density below 0.77 is disclosed, which comprises the following steps: forming a foam from water and a surface active agent consisting of at least one alkyl sulfate having formula H(CH2)nOSO3 -M+, wherein n is a number between 6 and 16, M is a monovalent cation and the average number of carbon atoms nm is between 9 and 10; and introducing the foam obtained into a plasterboard, wherein the quantity of surface active agent introduced does not exceed 0.32g/l of plasterboard. This method is suitable for producing reduced-weight plasterboards.
