A method for modulating a developmental transition of a plant comprises modulating expression of RING finger or RING-H2 protein the plant and further providing ubiquitation and/or proteolysis of a target protein wherein the target protein modulates developmental transition of a plant. Also described is a nucleic acid that encodes a plant RING finger or RING-H2 protein.
