The device has an input shaft, carrying a steering wheel (B), connected kinematically to a secondary shaft, carrying a follow-up unit (4), by means of pinions (31, 32). The pinions have teeth, which correspond to a gear ratio of the secondary shaft and a tooth, such that the secondary shaft turns one turn for a rotation more than two turns of the wheel. A flexible stop supports the unit, the shafts and the wheel, in a central position. The follow-up unit (4) and the input and secondary shafts and the steering wheel are supported removably, in a central position, by a flexible stop.
