PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which prevents white spots, uneven superposition transfer, toner scattering or the like and with which a stable image can be formed. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus for a color print performs a process of sequentially transferring and superposing toner images on a plurality of photoreceptors formed by a plurality of developing means onto an intermediate transfer belt by a primary transferring means to form a toner image and then collectively transferring the superposed toner images onto a transfer material by a second transferring means. The apparatus has a scorotron destaticizing means having a grid electrode which reduces charges in the superposed toner images between the primary transferring position in the most downstream side and the second transferring position, and has a paper resistance detecting means in the conveying path of the teransfer material, so that the grid voltage is controlled in accordance with the detection result of resistance.
