PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus capable of displaying an example on paper under the environment that is the same as the environment where the regular calligraphy, painting, or the like is learned. SOLUTION: The display apparatus includes a projector 15 composed so as to be settable above a paper setting position (the surface of an underlay 2 on which paper 3 is placed) and project projection light L toward the paper setting position in order to show a display image based on display data Dd1 and Dd2. For example, even when a very typical underlay 2, which is not optically transparent, is used to learn calligraphy, the display image shown can be securely viewed. Also, the display image can be shown under the environment that is the same as the environment where regular calligraphy is learned. This prevents a user from feeling unpleasantly when stroking a brush. In addition, since replacement of the underlay 2 is unnecessary, calligraphy can be learned at a low cost.
