<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a machining time in wire cut electric discharge machining. <P>SOLUTION: A composite machining apparatus 2 comprises a machining head 30 having a jet nozzle 6 attached thereon, and a machining head 34 having an upper nozzle assembly 10 attached thereon to receive an upper wire guide. A workpiece 4 is mounted and fixed on a workpiece stand 18 provided on a table 16. A relative movement apparatus 22 for relatively moving the jet nozzle 6 with respect to the workpiece 4, and for relatively moving the wire electrode with respect to the workpiece 4 includes the table 16 and a saddle 20. A control unit positions the jet nozzle 6 on the workpiece 4 with a predetermined clearance and controls the relative movement apparatus 22 based on a required machining shape, and further positions the wire electrode on the machining surface of the workpiece 4 with a specified machining gap and controls the relative movement apparatus 22 based on the required machining shape. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
