PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of stable and efficient operation with an easy algorithm, in which expansion valve control of the air conditioner can be performed without changing the control timing, or needing experimental adjustment for every characteristic of the expansion valve or a refrigerating cycle, and the man-hour for development is never increased. SOLUTION: This air conditioner comprises a refrigerant circuit constituted by circularly connecting a compressor, an outdoor heat exchanger, the expansion valve, and an indoor heat exchanger; an operation quantity arithmetic means determining an operation quantity of the expansion valve to keep the operating state of the refrigerant circuit in an optimum state; and an operation quantity correction means determining a final operation quantity by multiplying the operation quantity determined by the operation quantity arithmetic means by a coefficient determined by a primary expression having a current expansion valve opening as a parameter.
