PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storing format for previously recorded music enabling a user to easily select general contents. SOLUTION: A general purpose header 22 in a first position of a memory specifies information required for successfully decoding the contents of a music chip. For example, the information includes a necessary bit rate and information belonging to specified PAC (Perceptual Audio coding) employed to record audio on the chip. In addition to the general purpose header, each chip has a storage part allocated to table contents. The table contents include information regarding a playing time, the title of a song, the category of music, and an artist. An individual header includes information of, for example, the category of music that a track belongs to, an artist, and information for addressing each track choice.
