PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device for a motor capable of reducing harsh scraping noise in driving a motor and accurately and quickly braking the motor in braking. SOLUTION: A rotating plate 21 is mounted on a motor rotating shaft 11 in a state of being not axially movable, an iron-core 24 having a winding 24A is axially movable supported on a supporting member 22 of a motor frame 10, a movable iron-core 25 and a movable plate 26 are unrotatably but axially movably supported through the rotating plate, and the movable iron core is energized toward the rotating plate by a brake spring 28. The movable plate is held at a distance adjusted to the iron-core by a clearance adjusting member 29A. The iron-core is displaced to the direction to separate the movable plate from the rotating plate by a distance determined by a stopper by attracting the movable iron-core by the iron core in driving the motor, thus a clearance between the movable iron-core and the rotating plate, and a clearance between the rotating plate and a movable plate are formed.
