PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoacoustic engine for preventing an output side operation part of a work output mechanism from being exposed to the high temperature, capable of improving engine efficiency, and providing output by using pressure vibration of operating gas. SOLUTION: This thermoacoustic engine 301 provides the output by using the pressure vibration of the operating gas, and has a regenerator 207 having a high temperature part 207a heated by a high temperature heat exchanger 205 on one end and an ordinary temperature part 207b cooled by emitting heat to an external part on the other end, a pulse pipe 208 having one end connected to the high temperature part 207a, an expander 203 connected to the other end of the pulse pipe 208 and having a pair of piston 231 and cylinder 232 driven by work transmitted from the pulse pipe 208, a second ordinary temperature heat exchanger 209 connected between the pulse pipe 208, the piston 231 and the cylinder 232 and emitting the heat to the external part, and a compressor 210 for inputting the work to the ordinary temperature part 207b.
