PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a product which is gorgeous and enriched in durability by applying a metal foil on the surface of a ceramic product such as a pottery or glass article and fixing a picture on the metal foil by baking using overglaze colors. SOLUTION: The decoration method comprises coating the surface of a ceramic product with a heat-resistant coating material, then applying a plurality of layers of metal foils on the coated surface, fixing the metal foils on the surface of the ceramic product by firing the ceramic product, thereafter, decorating the surface of the metal foils by using overglaze colors, and again firing the ceramic product. One or more kinds of metal foils selected from a gold foil, a silver foil, a platinum foil, a palladium foil, a copper foil, a brass foil and an aluminum foil is used as the metal foil.
