The sodium carbonate is obtained by crystallization from an aqueous solution extracted from seams of sodium sesquicarbonate after separation of impurities and sodium bicarbonate. The process is carried out in the stages of: (1) addition of sodium carbonate to an aqueous solution comprising sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate to form an aqueous suspension; (2) crystallization and separation of sesquicarbonate crystals from the aqueous suspension to obtain sesquicarbonate crystals and a mother liquor; (3) crystallization and separation of sodium carbonate crystals from the mother liquor. The amount of sodium carbonate added in the first stage is adjusted so that crystallization of the sesquicarbonate occurs without prior evaporation of the aqueous suspension. |
