The method involves attaching a device (2) with sensors (4) at a fuselage of aircrafts for detection of field of 50 cycles per second that is produced by a high voltage power line. Characteristics of the field that are measured by the device as a function of time and with a line frequency that is used in high voltage power line are evaluated. The sensors are implemented as a dipole antenna or a magnet loop, and rotatable. An independent claim is also included for a device for detection of field that is produced by high voltage power lines.
