<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of reducing labor required for function enhancement. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with: an optional slot 30 to which an optional board 40 for enhancing function is fitted; a rewritable ROM 21 storing a main body program P2 for optional driving to be used for driving the optional board 40; and an MPU 20 for driving the optional board 40 fitted to the optional slot 30 based on the main body program P2 for optional driving stored in the ROM 21. The apparatus, when detecting a new optional board 40b fitted to the optional slot 30, reads a new main body program P2' for optional driving to be used for driving the new optional board 40b from the new optional board 40b to store it into the ROM 21. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
