<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant crash protection device smoothly developing an airbag between an inner surface of a side part of a cabin and an occupant while suppressing an increase of the cost without narrowing an internal space of the cabin. <P>SOLUTION: The occupant crash protection device is mounted along an upper edge of a door opening part 5 in a folded condition, and provided with an airbag 40 to be developed like a curtain along an inner surface 3a of a side part of a cabin 9 when the airbag is inflated. The occupant crash protection device has a contact detection device 44 to detect presence/absence of a proximity posture of an occupant M to the inner surface 3a of the side part by the contact of the occupant M, and prohibits development of the airbag 40 while the contact detection device 44 detects presence of the proximity posture. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
