<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To design, develop and manufacture a light guide plate comprising a diffraction grating of high definition and a backlight unit using the light guide plate in a short period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The light guide plate 5 comprises light guide paths 7 (#1 to #3) corresponding to a plurality of light sources 1 (#1 to #3) for guiding respective light beams from the light sources 1 (#1 to #3). Each of the light guide paths 7 (#1 to #3) comprises a diffraction grating 3 for diffracting the guided light beams for emission to the outside of the light guide paths 7 (#1 to #3).
