PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain electric power consumed by motoring of an engine. SOLUTION: In an automobile having the engine and a motor MG1 capable of motoring the engine, a torque command Tm1* of the motor MG1 is established so that the consumed electric power Pm for motoring is set to be equal to predetermined electric power P1 after the consumed electric power Pm for motoring consumed by motoring of the engine reaches to the predetermined electric power P1 when starting the engine (S140 and S150). Thus, electric power consumed by motoring of the engine is restrained so that the engine is started by motoring in a range that the consumed electric power Pm for motoring is the predetermined electric power P1 or less.
