METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING SYNTHESIS GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of self-combustion caused by hydrocarbons each containing two or more carbon atoms in a raw material gas when synthesis gas is produced from the raw material gas containing light hydrocarbons such as natural gas by a catalytic partial oxidation method. SOLUTION: In a method for producing the synthesis gas, hydrocarbons each containing two or more carbon atoms in the raw material gas are previously converted into methane and then the methane is subjected to the catalytic partial oxidation reaction by using an apparatus equipped with: a low temperature steam reforming reactor 8 for converting the hydrocarbons each containing two or more carbon atoms in the raw material gas containing light hydrocarbons into methane; and a catalytic partial oxidation reactor 15 for turning a gas obtained from the low temperature steam reforming reactor 8 to the synthesis gas containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen.
