METHOD OF PROCESSING AN IMAGE IDENTIFYING FIBROSIS IN AN ORGANIC TISSUE

The invention relates to an image-processing method that can be used to identify fibrosis in an organic tissue from an image of the tissue, said tissue having been prestained. The invention is characterised in that it comprises the following steps consisting in: (a) masking colours in the image other than that associated with the fibrosis; and (b) masking coloured areas which are associated with artifacts and which have at least one image characteristic that is markedly different from the image characteristics associated with the fibrosis, whereby said at least one image characteristic is used as a masking criterion during the masking steps. The invention also relates to a medical imaging method which includes the aforementioned image-processing method, a computer program which implements said image-processing method and the uses of same in medical diagnosis.
