VEHICLE CONTROL APPARATUS FOR QUICKLY DEALING WITH COMMUNICATION ABNORMALITY IN COMMUNICATION MEANS BETWEEN CALCULATION CONTROL DEVICES

A vehicle control apparatus wherein one of two calculation control devices connected to each other via communication means is used to control the driving of a vehicle based on a target control amount as calculated by the other calculation control device. If there occurs any abnormality in the communication means, in order to quickly deal with the abnormality, the one calculation control device itself calculates an estimate of the target control amount and compares it with the target control amount received from the other calculation control device; alternatively, a third calculation control device compares the target control amount transmitted thereto directly from the other calculation control device with the target control amount transmitted to the third calculation control device from the other calculation control device via the communication means and the one calculation control device, and then uses the difference between the those target control amounts to determine the abnormality to change the driving control.
