PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent lowering of control hydraulic pressure with respect to a control command value caused by lowering of viscosity of control oil in a high temperature, and thereby to prevent degradation in starting characteristic in the high temperature. SOLUTION: A control device for a vehicular hydraulic automatic transmission has a starting control means. The starting control means controls to supply hydraulic pressure to a first hydraulic engagement means for a low-speed stage and a second hydraulic engagement means for a high-speed stage so as to set a shift stage to be the high-speed stage, and then controls to switch the high-speed stage to the low-speed stage. The control device further has: a temperature detection means detecting a temperature of a power train; and a high-speed stage setting operation prohibition means prohibiting the setting operation of the high-speed stage by the starting control means when the temperature detected by the temperature detection means is not less than a predetermined value.
