PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for efficiently producing an absorbent article without causing any cut in a sheet material, which hardly cause wrinkling and twisting , is less deteriorated in flexibility, has excellent touch, hardly becomes stuffy, and has an embossed part high in visibility, and is excellent in preventing leakage. SOLUTION: The absorbent article includes side sheets where enclosing emboss is formed at both side parts. The method includes a process for forming the enclosing emboss on the original fabric 50 of the side sheet by thermal embossing through the use of an emboss roll 8 and an anvil roll 9. The thermal embossing is performed on condition that linear pressure is 380-2,000 N/cm, the width of embossing projections 82a corresponding to the enclosing emboss is 0.5-1.5 mm, and clearance between both the rolls 8, 9 is 2-20% of the thickness of the side sheet original fabric 50 to be inserted between both the rolls.
