The invention relates to a method of detecting the separation of an electronic module (1) from a vehicle to which it is mounted.The inventive method comprises the following steps, namely: an inductor (17) is associated with the module (1) such that it cannot be dissociated therefrom; the inductor (17) and the associated module (1) are solidly connected, said module being solidly connected to an element of the vehicle immediately next to a ferromagnetic element (18); the current passing through the inductor (17) is measured (monitored) such as to detect a possible variation therein; and, upon detection of a current variation greater than a pre-determined variation threshold that is representative of an increase in the distance between the inductor (17) and the ferromagnetic material (18), a signal is transmitted indicating that the module (1) associated with said inductor is separating from the vehicle.
