Sheet billet is produced for rolling by thin strip-casting or roller-casting, in which the alloy melt is cast between two rollers, rapidly cooled and drawn off. The sheet billet is thermo-mechanically worked at a temperature (T1) below the precipitation sequence for a strength-increasing, coherent Al3Sc/Zr - phase, rolling it to desired thickness. This is then heat treated at a temperature (T2) within the precipitation sequence for a strength-increasing, coherent Al3Sc/Zr - phase.
