<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a measurement and to find an evaluation value using past accumulated data using a measurement result by simple measurement in a blood vessel stiffness calculation apparatus calculating the stiffness of the blood vessel. <P>SOLUTION: The blood vessel stiffness calculation apparatus is provided with a first computing section finding a pulse wave propagation velocity PWV1 between the heart and the knee based on two pulse waves of the knee and the upper arm before being corrected by the blood pressure, and finding a stiffness parameter βe between the heart and the knee expressed by an expression, βe=2ρ(PWV1)<SP>2</SP>/Pd using the pulse wave propagation velocity PWV1 and a minimum blood pressure Pd; and a second computing section finding an evaluation value CAVIβe statistically same or approximate to the pulse wave propagation velocity PWV2 of the aorta corrected by the blood pressure according to a conversion equation, CAVIβe=f(βe) using the stiffness parameter βe found by the first computing section as a variable. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
