<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester-based synthetic fiber yarn capable of imparting excellent stainproof properties and water-absorbing properties to a woven or knitted fabric without reducing color fastness, resistance to dropping out and the like of the woven or knitted fabric; to provide a method for readily producing the yarn; and to provide the woven or knitted fabric using the yarn. <P>SOLUTION: The polyester-based synthetic fiber yarn alternately has parts to which a polycondensate of a polyethylene glycol and terephthalic acid is attached, and parts to which the polycondensate is not attached.
