PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an excessive interrogation for securing a time for transmitting other interrogation, in an interrogation transmission system of an SSR mode S. SOLUTION: In this interrogation transmission method of a secondary surveillance radar, a prediction angle range in the transmission of the interrogation is compared with an antenna beam-width (S1, S2), and the interrogation is transmitted in every roll-call period, when the prediction angle range in the transmission of the interrogation is narrower than the antenna beam-width (S3). In the other hand, a period to transmit the interrogation and a period not to transmit the interrogation are set respectively until a response can be received, when the prediction angle range in the transmission of the interrogation is wider than the antenna beam-width (S4, S5), and the interrogation is transmitted in the every roll-call period after the responses can be received (including the case where a reception error or downlink occurs) (S6). As a result of changing the interrogation transmission system by this manner, the reduced time for the transmission is used for a schedule of transaction for the other target, since the interrogation to an azimuth having low possibility of response return is reduced.
