IMAGE PROJECTING METHOD, PROJECTOR, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM

Zooming is automatically carried out so that the projected image is registered with a projection area on a projection body (e.g., a screen). On an image captured by a camera, the positions of the four corners of the projection area and those of the projected image are detected. The positions of the four corners of the projection area in relation to those of the projected image are converted into the positions on a panel coordinated system defined on a spatial optical modulating device (panel). The smallest first target frame (TF1) is set on the panel coordinate system in a state that the first target frame includes the four corners of the projection area converted into the positions of the panel coordinate system. A second target frame (TF2) defined in consideration of the aspect ratio and so forth of the projected image is set on the panel coordinate system according to the positions of the first target frame (TF1) on the panel coordinate system. The ratio of the size of the second target frame (TF2) to that of the whole panel coordinate system is determined as the zoom ratio.
