<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-density optical recording material which contains a coloring matter compound excellent in light-resistance in a recording layer and responds to a blue laser light. <P>SOLUTION: The high-density optical recording material consists of a porphyrin compound expressed by general formula (I). In the formula, Ar<SP>1</SP>-Ar<SP>4</SP>denote aromatic rings and X<SP>1</SP>-X<SP>8</SP>denote each independently hydrogen, chlorine, bromine or iodine. The sum of the numbers of the hydrogen atoms denoted by X<SP>1</SP>-X<SP>8</SP>is 4 or less. M denotes two hydrogen atoms or a bivalent or higher cation of a metal of an atomic number 12-83.
