<p>1,157,151. Shaft encoders. CROUZET. 21 July, 1966 [30 July, 1965], No. 32816/66. Heading G4H. A capacitative coder comprises a pair of stationary discs 2, 11 bearing conductive segments 1a, 1h and 10a, 10h and a rotatable conductive shutter 4 between plates 2, 11 having windows 4a and connected to earth, an A.C. signal being coupled from the segments on disc 2 to those on disc 11 in dependence on the position of shutter 4. Segements 1h and 10h cooperate with windows 4h to provide an output when sensing is to take place, i.e. when none of the code output terminals 12, 12<SP>1</SP> and 12<SP>11</SP> are undergoing a transition. Detecting and shaping circuits may be provided in printed circuit form on the back of disc 11. Constructional features of the coder are given, and two coders may be coupled to the same shaft, one being as shown, and the other, which is coupled via stepby-step gearing, being similar but without the synchronizing track.</p> |
