PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a case of a lighting system capable of keeping the strength of a lens and being thinned, and to provide the lighting system. SOLUTION: The case 12 of the lighting system 11 for carrying out illumination by transmitting light emitted from a flat discharge tube 13 disposed inside from a part thereof is provided with: a box-like housing 17 having an opening on one side; a frame-like frame body 26 mounted to the opening of the housing 17; and a flat lens 27 mounted in the frame body 26 and having translucency.
