PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize long lifetime of a cache memory without reducing data transfer speed for a disk. SOLUTION: When write requests arrive (28) and a DRAM 20 is not filled (30), write-in data is written in the DRAM (32). When the DRAM is filled and a disk 18 is rotated, data is shifted to the disk from the DRAM (36). After that, write requests are satisfied using the DRAM (32). When the disk is not rotated and a flash memory 22 is not filled (38), data is destaged to the flash memory from the DRAM (40), and write request is satisfied using the DRAM (32). When the flash memory is filled, spinup of the disk is performed and data is destaged to the disk from the flash memory (42).
