PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display medium which can suppress agglomeration and biasing of charged particles and which is easy to manufacture, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: Since air bubbles 7 partition and section display liquid 6 by areas, charged particles 6a and 6b in the areas of display liquid 6 are held with surface tension of the display liquid 6 so as not to move to display liquid in other areas beyond air bubbles 7 between the areas of display liquid 6. Consequently, the charged particles 6a and 6b can be prevented from being biased or agglomerated, without the use of solid partition walls. Further, the display medium is easy to manufacture since no solid partition wall for partitioning the display liquid is needed. Furthermore, the distance between a 1st substrate and a 2nd substrate orthogonal to a display surface can be made short, since no solid partition wall is provided, so the charged particles can be made to migrate with a low voltage.
