PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an azimuthal angle measurement method and an azimuthal angle measurement device for obtaining initial azimuth, when a traveling direction azimuth display of a portable terminal having an electronic compass fixed in a car is performed. SOLUTION: At the beginning, an offset value of a terrestrial magnetism is previously calculated (S51), from the terrestrial magnetism measurement data obtained by the portable terminal at the outside of the car. Then, a magnetic intensity of each axis of X, Y, Z is measured outside of the car, by orientating the portable terminal to the car direction (S52). Then, the magnetic intensity of each axis of X, Y, Z is measured (S53), fixing the portable terminal inside of the car. A difference between the magnetic intensity measured at S52 and the magnetic intensity measured at S53 is calculated. Then, addition and subtraction are performed (S54) from the terrestrial magnetism offset value obtained at S51. Accordingly, a precise azimuthal angle measurement can be made.
