PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transportation/storage vessel of an above described type enabling easy, smooth and safe adaptation of a neutron moderator to the intensity of a neutron source accommodated in the vessel. SOLUTION: The above problem is solved by providing a basket with a large number of fuel element container tubes and packing part of the fuel element tubes with the neutron moderator instead of the fuel element.
