PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backrest structure of a chair, smartly designed with a small ratio of a frame body to the outside appearance of the chair, permitting the weight reduction, reduction of the number of parts, and improvement of the assemblability. SOLUTION: In the stretching structure of the upholstery 18 of a seat 14, etc. of the chair with the upholstery 18 stretched over the surface of the frame body 17, recessed grooves 24 in the longitudinal direction are provided on the outer side faces of left and right side frame rods 21 facing each other in the frame body 17, and a pair of trim materials 28 fixed to a pair of edges of the upholstery 18 facing each other are fitted to the recessed grooves 24 on the left and right side frame rods 21 together with the upholstery 18, with the upholstery 18 wound on the outer surface of the trim materials by rotating the trim materials 28 almost one round to the rear surface side.
