<p>An image reader comprising an optical unit (1) for reading out image information by condensing and photoelectrically converting photostimulated light emitted from a stimulable phosphor plate (P) by irradiating it with pumping light (L1) from a light source while scanning, and a linear motor (7) for moving the stimulable phosphor plate (P). The image reader further comprises coupling means (6, 61) moving together with the stimulable phosphor plate (P), rotary means (92, 93) rotating when movement of the stimulable phosphor plate (P) is transmitted through the coupling means (6, 61), a rotation detecting means (5) for detecting rotational speed of the rotary means (92, 93), and a control means (100) for controlling the linear motor (7) by comparing detection results of the rotation detecting means (5) with a preset speed.</p> |
