<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side airbag device capable of adjusting the development range of the airbag. <P>SOLUTION: The side airbag device 1 comprises a plurality of airbags 2A-2D which are arranged on a side part of a seatback 21 in a seat 20 of a vehicle in the height direction, and developed independently from each other, a collision detection sensor 6 to detect the collision of the vehicle, occupant recognition means (contact pressure sensors 4A-4C, 7, load sensors 5A, 5B) to detect the size, the seating position and the seating posture of an occupant seated in the seat 20, and an ECU 10 to control each development of the airbags 2A-2D based on the result of detection of the collision detection sensor 6 and the result of detection of the occupant recognition means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
