<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch a GSM termination call which is awaited to a W-CDMA termination call which is awaited, or switch the W-CDMA termination call to the GSM termination call, in a portable telephone in which both the communication systems of a W-CDMA and a GSM can be awaited. <P>SOLUTION: The frequency of the W-CDMA is detected between the detections of GSM termination call for every fixed period. When the termination call detection timing by the side of the GSM is generated during the frequency detection of the W-CDMA, the operation is switched to the GSM side, and the termination call detection by the side of GSM is performed. At this time, since the frequency detection of the W-CDMA serves as the discontinuation or failure, the frequency detection by the side of the W-CDMA can be completed to the last again by the detection of only the partial in which the frequency interrupts or fails. Thus, in the case of the frequency detection of the W-CDMA during awaiting of the GSM termination call, the transition to the awaiting of the W-CDMA termination call is made possible.
