PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display which can make either light emitting display or reflection display, while improving the light-emitting display and prolonging the lifetime of the reflection display. SOLUTION: The display has a 1st substrate 1, a 1st electrode 6 and a 2nd electrode 7 provided on the 1st substrate 1; a 2nd substrate 2 facing the 1st substrate 1 with a gap in-between; a 3rd electrode 3 provided on the 2nd substrate 2, a 1st layer 5 provided on the 1st substrate 1 inside the gap between the 1st substrate 1 and the 2nd substrate 2 and containing a luminescent material which emits light through electrochemical oxidization or reduction; a 2nd layer 4 provided on the 2nd substrate inside the gap between the 1st substrate and the 2nd substrate and containing a coloring agent which changes its color through electrochemical oxidization or reduction; and a 3rd layer 8 provided between the 1st layer 5 and the 2nd layer 4 and which is an electrolyte layer that does not pass or is hard to pass the luminescent material or its oxidized or reduced species.
