PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording and reproducing apparatus which is capable of editing title information recorded in association with content information (video/audio information) recorded in a recording medium and allows various font data to be used when editing the title information. SOLUTION: The information recording and reproducing apparatus includes a recording means for digitizing a video signal inputted from the outside to record content information in the recording medium, a reproducing means for reading out and reproducing content information recorded in the recording medium, a font memory where first font data for on-screen display is stored, a title information editing means capable of editing title information recorded in association with the content information, and a font data addition means capable of additionally recording a second font data in the font memory.
