PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus easily specifying a target region of colors or intensity correction for a composite image to improve working efficiency, and also to provide an image forming system. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with: a region specifying data storage unit 36 for storing region specifying data for specifying a net main image region from a composite image in such a manner that the data are correlated with a template image; a template specifying means 22 for specifying the template image forming the composite image; a region specifying data acquiring means 23 for acquiring the region specifying data correlated with the specified template image, from the unit 36; a region specifying means 24 for specifying the net main image region of the composite image on the basis of the acquired region specifying data; and an image processing unit 20 having a function of performing image processing only for the net main image region.
