PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device that has a low drive voltage and can extend its life longer than a conventional light-emitting device, and to provide a method for manufacturing the light-emitting device. SOLUTION: The light-emitting device has a plurality of layers between a pair of electrodes, and at least one layer in the plurality of layers contains one compound selected from a semiconductor oxide and a metal oxide and a compound having improved hole-transporting properties. The light-emitting device in this configuration can suppress the crystallization of a layer containing one compound selected from the semiconductor oxide and the metal oxide and a compound having high hole-transporting properties.
