PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mass-produce a quartz glass product free from the occurrence of striae in a glassy material and having excellent dimensional accuracy at a low cost. SOLUTION: A sintering formed body F obtained by filling raw material particles 2 prepared by adding a binder to spherical silica and press molding in a forming mold 3 having forming surfaces 4a-6a finished to have surface roughness satisfying both conditions of (1); Ra≤d/4 and (2); Sm≥d is heated to be sintered. In the relation, Ra expresses the surface roughness expressed by arithmetic average roughness, Sm expresses average distance of one cycle of projecting and recessed parts which is measured based on the intersection point of the roughness curve and the average line and (d) expresses the average particle diameter of the raw material particle.
