<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for subjecting a polyimide resin or film from industrial wastes abandoned in large quantities to alkaline hydrolysis treatment, and to provide a method for recovering a low molecular compound of the alkaline hydrolysate as a recycled raw material which can be reused. <P>SOLUTION: The method for decomposing a polyimide comprises charging in water a polyimide molded article or film in a ground form so that the concentration thereof in water is 0.05-20 wt.%, adding a basic substance to produce hydroxy ions [OH<SP>-</SP>] having a molar volume corresponding to 20-80 times greater than the molar volume of the theoretical imido group of the polyimide to be decomposed, and decomposing the polyimide to a low molecular weight substance at a temperature of about 40-95°C in a condition of ordinary pressure. The method for recovering an alkaline hydrolyzed low molecular weight compound comprises precipitating it by neutralizing a polyimide-decomposed solution with an acid substance, and separating and recovering the precipitate by a method such as filtration. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
